Abstract
Given the statewide scope of Census work, it is both geographically large in scope and hyperlocal in scope. DHS requires UIC to minimize overlap and use resources strategically and effectively to increase response rates in HTC communities. Due to their position as a hub for Illinois’ higher education resources, UIC is uniquely positioned to assist DHS in the implementation of this pilot. Along with its sister campuses, UIC can reach students across the state and use its partnerships with other public and private colleges to ensure a complete count. The Census Data, Research and GIS Visualization Pilot will support statewide coordinated efforts to reach Illinois residents who are at risk of being undercounted. This program seeks to ensure that identified geographic areas and demographic populations who are least likely to respond, will participate in the 2020 Census.
